It was time for the cycling to begin. After a hearty Scottish breakfast, the team saddled up, left Fort William and began their cycle along the banks of Loch Linnhe. In no time at all they’d turned off the lochside road and began the infamous climb through Glencoe.
Ian had a few problems with his chain whilst climbing Glencoe. There are fewer places in the UK that are further from a bike shop but in the end we decided a change of chain would be the best option. The rest of the group rode ahead through the glorious Glencoe then down onto Rannoch Moor, the team were absolutely flying!
The coach loads of tourists look on in awe as the team pedalled past. There is simply no better way to experience this road than on a bike!
The weather was holding out and this glorious stretch of tarmac was just perfect. The team soon arrived at our lunch spot in Crianlarich. The hard work of the day was done with just one more significant climb to tackle for the day. Dave was excited.
The section after lunch was fast…really fast! Trying to keep up in the support van was difficult…that fast! The team stopped briefly in Tarbet, and even had time for a spot of Yoga on the banks of Loch Lomond. This was turning into a great day!
From Tarbet the team cycled south towards Glasgow, over the river Clyde and onto Paisley for their overnight accommodation. By the time the team arrived, someone had replaced Dave’s bike with a new streamline, efficient and speedy machine. No pannier, no fleece…he was now limitless.
What a fantastic day of cycling!
