The group met at Blackheath Common ready to begin their cycle to Paris. Due to some last minutes drop-outs, we had a small group – only six riders in total! Peter, Stephen, Mark, Pete, Chris and Mark looked well prepared and keen to get going.

After a briefing from More Adventure leaders Danny and Tom, the team set out onto the streets of London.

At this time in the morning, London can be a struggle, but soon the team had reached the outskirts and had crossed the M25.

Unfortunately, just 18 miles in, Chris took a bit of tumble so wisely decided it was best to get checked out at a nearby hospital. The rest of the team continued on whilst Tom and Pete arranged logistics for rejoining the group at a later stage.

Soon the rest of the team had arrived at the lunch spot in Faversham and the sun was out in all its’ glory.

It was a relaxed fair, especially as the group had arrived in very good time. We also learned from Pete, who was with Chris at the hospital, that they would both be joining us in Dover, which was fabulous news.

The team were soon cycling along the glorious backroads of Kent, with fantastic views of the Garden of England.

Due to the Le Mans car race and the Euros Football, there had been delays at the port all day, but the team had made such good time throughout the day, they still ended up getting an earlier crossing than expected. Chris and Pete joined us at the port, keen to get back with the group and back cycling.

We were soon on the ferry crossing the channel in the sun. Once we reached Calais, the team then cycled another few miles to our hotel where a well-earned shower and a few drinks awaited.
